I just realized that I have been posting blogs about the fun stuff that I do, and some of the thoughts that I have, but nothing really about the ministry we are doing. This past week we have been holding a Vacation Bible School everyday. Each day at 3 pm we would invite all of the children to come to the little church for our VBS. We averaged anywhere between 75 and 100 children everyday. Our theme for the week was the wordless book, or the salvation bracelets. This is where black stands for sin, red stands for Jesus’s blood, white stands for purity, yellow stands for light and heaven, and green stands for new life in Christ. Each day we used a different colour for our theme. We sang songs, had a skit, a lesson, a craft of colouring (one day we gave them hearts to colour on, another day was doves, and another day was sunshines) and then we played games with them. Usually this was all over by 4:30. The kids were really responsive, and enjoyed having a sticker placed on the attendance board. At the end of the week we gave them bracelets with the coloured beads on them. Besides this we also moved a pile of rubble, and handed out some rice this week. One day Rachel and I painted the nails of all of the little girls. Overall it was a good week, and we plan to continue VBS and other projects for this next week.
