This is one of the hardest blogs I’ve ever had to write.

I don’t really know why, other than my pride and strong independent streak trying to get in the way. But this is difficult to put out there. You would think that the World Race would have prepared me for this, but I was naive and thought that would be a one-time thing. Yikes.

In the last 18 months, the Lord has done a lot of work in my heart of stripping away my pride in my independence and abilities. I’ve learned that it is absolutely okay to ask for help and to show areas of vulnerability and need. In many ways, it’s taken a greater strength to show my weaknesses than to brag in my strengths.

So, here it goes.

I need to raise support again.

As I wrote in my last blog, in January of 2013 I will be moving to Gainesville, Georgia to pursue an internship with Adventures in Missions. In order to pursue the Center for Global Action, I will need to raise approximately $960 every month for eight months. Here is the breakdown of monthly costs:

1.     $600 for rent, food, and gas
2.     $140 for health insurance
3.     $40 for cell phone
4.     $80 for car insurance
5.     $100 for miscellaneous expenses

In addition, I recently applied for a $150 a month scholarship, which would reduce my costs to $810 a month. For eight months, the total cost of the CGA would be $6,480.

I think the reason asking for support this time around feels more difficult is because I’m beginning to see that this is very possibly something I will need to do again in the future for a long-term placement. As a result of that realization, I’m asking my supporters to pray about giving once again.

However, I would like to ask those interested in supporting me to consider committing to giving monthly. Since I am serious about a long-term commitment to missions in the future, I feel that its important to build up a base of monthly supporters who will give as part of their regular tithe towards the Kingdom Work that I believe God is calling me into. If this is not something you a financially prepared to do, one-time gifts are also invaluable and every bit helps to propel me further on the path set before me.

You can give through this website, by click on the link on the left-hand side that says “Support Me!” You can give one time or set up an automatic deduction every month, as well as get information for where to send checks. Please make sure your donation has my name on it somewhere so it gets credited to my account.

I know that’s a lot of numbers and information that I’ve thrown out, but my goal is to be transparent and honest in all situations where my supporters will be financially invested in me and my journey. Please let me know if you have further questions about these numbers and I’ll be happy to answer! Thank you for once again partnering with me.
