So before I came to Rwanda, I did not know anything about this country except just what I have heard from genocide and that crazy movie Hotel Rwanda. Although a lot of bad stuff has happened here and there is a history that cannot be erased, I just wanted to set the record straight about the people here.

We have been living in Kigali Rwanda for the last couple of weeks, and I have been lazy to blog… sorry. Anyway, this country is beautiful. It is not at all what I thought. The people here cater to our every need, constantly try to feed us and wash our clothes, and always ask “are you fine?” I don’t feel hostility here. This country was once in ruin and now it is a peaceful place of people trying to work and live and be together.

Don’t get me wrong, every nation has its problems, but this is a thriving nation, one that is leaving its past and deciding to move forward into something more, something better… I just wanted to get that out. There is life after destruction, there is light in the darkness, and it’s good to knowthat I can contribute to that.
