Month one, I lead acapella worship in the Philippines, month 2, I worked in a Malaysian restaurant, and this month… well, this month I am writing an English textbook. My team and I have been working with college students in Bangkok, and teaching a YWAM English class has been one activity that we have participated in. The students taking the course are learning basic English and sentence structure over a period of three months. Because the curriculum only lasts for one semester, the problem is that a new lesson is needed.

This, my friends, is what I am doing. I am finding that saying “Yes, I can do that” is becoming more and more familiar on this journey of mine. When asked to write an English curriculum for college Thai students, I thought Why not? I know how to speak English…

Writing has shown me a lot about how much I do not fully understand about my native tongue, and also how much I remember from school. It has been a process, like everything else, but has been rewarding in so many ways. I am leaving a piece, a little piece, of me in this country. I am excited to relieve the workers here by giving them a jump start on something that would have otherwise been an overwhelming task. This is Thailand, and I am thankful to be here… right here in this place.
