(11/14/10)

So, my team and I have stumbled upon one more thing that only comes once a year in a country and happens to be going on when we get here… This Sunday was Bangkok’s national day of prayer. On our weekly YWAM schedule, it only said (prayer walk 12-5). So when we saw crowds of people holding flags and went to a massive worship service under a bridge we were more than shocked that this was not simply a five hour prayer walk.

My team and other YWAMers left BJD (our house) and took a bus about 30 minutes away and were met by a flood of people of every race that I can think of, marching their way down the street. We watched them from the roadside for a while, waiting to find our rightful place in line. Standing there, seeing these people, these Christians all united in Bangkok, hearing them sing, watching their laughter and smiles, I found myself completely anxious to jump into line and join with them.

After being a spectator for an agonizing ten minutes, we were able to fall into place and begin to walk and pray with a ton of people that I have never met before but that march for the same God that I believe in. We walked for a long while, down streets, up stairs, and over bridges, and it was one of the most exciting walk down the street that I have ever done. Tiff and I prayed out loud at one point for the city, for the people of Bangkok, Thailand.

After some time, we arrived at a large pavilion with a bandstand where all of the people were congregating. As the sun set, we worshipped, danced, laughed, prayed, and ate something really spicy in a styrofoam plate. Sitting there, all I could say was thank you, Lord, thank you, Lord, thank you. To be a part of something so much bigger than me is definitely an eye opener. I am just so thankful that I do not really know what else to say. Pray for the people of Bangkok, Thailand today. Remember that they are fighting for the same God.
