Hello! I’m Laura, and welcome to my World Race blog (like, whoa … this is really happening). I’m so glad that you have made it here to follow me during this crazy adventure that God has planned for me. Keep on the look out for new posts! My desire is for you to be encouraged in your faith through my stories and experiences in preparation for and during my travels.
To all my fellow Racers who have no idea who I am, here’s a bit about me. Raised in the South, I am a Mississippian through and through (what does that even mean? Idk). I guess, for me it means that I like my tea sweet, I say “yes ma’am” and “y’all”, I love making people feel right at home, and I fix problems with homemade comfort food and a listening ear. I have two degrees in secondary education: one from Mississippi State University and one from the University of Southern Mississippi. I’m currently in my third year of teaching 9th and 10th grade English at Petal High School in South Mississippi, and I absolutely love it.
Let’s see … I enjoy learning new things and seeing new places. I have a heart for helping people. I can become somewhat addicted to TV shows (“Just one more episode” … 6 EPISODES LATER). I despise unloading the dishwasher. First 10 musical artists that come up on my iPhone shuffle are: Brooke Fraser, Phoenix, Tegan and Sara, Beyonce, HAIM, Queen, Bastille, Avicii, One Direction, Miles Davis, Wicked Soundtrack–ok, that was 11.
About to get my MIND BLOWN in NYC on Broadway
Beaching – Love all water activities!
INTJ. I’m a middle child with a brother on each side, and this month I turn 26. I tend to get lost in the literary and poetic world, and I’m ok with it. I value the giving and receiving of sarcasm. I love hearing about family or cultural traditions that are passed through generations. I’m on a mission to find kindred spirits around the globe (already found some over in England!).

I love when random conversations with strangers turn into being not so random after all. I’m pretty into sports. I’m happiest when I’m swinging on a swing or helping someone surpass his own expectations.
…
Overwhelmed. That’s the word I’d pick for the feeling of the moment. I’m diving into something that I had only previously skimmed the surface.
But, thankfully, I serve a big God. A God so big that I can place my fears, worries, anxieties, and failures down at His feet, and He’ll replace them with more of Him. I am grateful for Jesus Christ, who modeled the Christian life for the Church and through his death and resurrection, now claims me into new life.
So, let’s do this!
“Lord, send your Spirit to teach me to value time with You. Help me to thirst after your Word and seek redemption in your grace. Give me your eyes that I may see people around me that need your truth and the willingness to share it with them.”
