Hey ya’ll! I’m Laura Bush. Feel free to get all of the “former first lady” comments out now… I’ve heard them all =). I would like to say that I am first and foremost a daughter of my God, and without Him I am thoroughly convinced that I would be miserable and boring person without Him.
Here are a few fun facts about who God made me to be:
· I’m from Delaware, Ohio, but I go to the University of Cincinnati, so I sometimes say that I’m from Cincinnati
· I’m majoring in Public Health Education with minors in History and Middle Eastern Studies
· I took two years of intensive college Arabic… but I’m getting a bit rusty at it
· My parents are awesome and put up with me during my rebellious metal head stage (but yeah, I still really love metal/core music)
· I have 1 older sister (Chris) and 3 older brothers (Tim, Greg and Aaron—my sister’s hubby)
· I grew up playing with the boys… and I have never been a girly girl (even though I do really love bright colored running shoes and boots…)
· My favorite books of the Bible are Ecclesiastes, John, Hebrews and James (I’m thoroughly convinced that reading Ecclesiastes has changed my world view and made me the mellow person that I am today)
· If you ask anyone who has ever gone camping or backpacking with me, they will readily tell you that I absolutely love roughing it!
· I am always the person behind the camera and I truly enjoy being there
· I’m a type 1 diabetic
· Human anatomy and physiology, theology and history are three easy topics to get me talking for a while
· I have a freakishly high pain tolerance (to the point that I can break bones playing sports and still manage to continue playing until someone convinces me to go to the hospital)
· I love playing sports… especially soccer, Ultimate Frisbee and volleyball/ walleyball (if you don’t know what this is… then look it up), and I love watching soccer, hockey and hurling (again, if you don’t know what this is, look it up =))
· Puppies are my favorite- like seriously, my teammates will probably have to force me away from strays because I will always try to cuddle with them (Hippos are my second favorite)
· My top five favorite bands/ musicians are: Josh Garrels, Mumford and Sons, The Oh Hellos, Alexi Murdoch, and Goat Rodeo Sessions… in no particular order.
· Barbecue ribs are my favorite food ever…. But the only food that I absolutely don’t like are olives… and I don’t like tomatoes if they are by themselves or on a sandwich
· I’m a beast at cooking and baking, and I make everything from scratch and usually use my own recipes
And best of all, if it wasn’t for Jesus, then none of the above fun facts would be true at all… Without Him, I am truly nothing!
