Hi! I'm Laura Angst, 27 years old with the blessing to be turning 28 on Easter Sunday just 1 week from now. I have a BS in Marketing with an MBA from Missouri State Univesity. I graduated with my MBA 5 years ago and since then have been pursuing a career in Marketing. I've worked for major corporations, start up companies and mid level companies. All along I've been searching for God's purpose in my life while trying to find fulfillment in career, family and living the good life.
Over the past year God has shown me that I have not been living the purpose for which He created me. Working to pay the bills and enjoy life is not what He has called me to. God has laid in my heart a deeper calling, one for His Kingdom! I have decided to step out of the corporate world and pursue a higher calling. His word tells us in Isaiah 55:8, "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways," declares the Lord. So I have been obedient and chosen to walk in His ways, not my ways. For my life, this means stepping out in faith to go on an adventure that is both scary and glorious, The World Race!
In September 2012, I will leave the comfort of my home, friends and family to embard on an adventure that is difficult to even comprehend. I will be traveling for 11 months to 11 countries across the world seeking to feed the hungry, share the gospel with the lost and allow God to forever change my life and the life of others.
Some people may see this as a waste of my talent and education, but I know just the opposite is true. God has gifted me with a compassion for others, a heart to serve Him and a calling beyond anything this world could provide.
Thanks to the recommendation of an amazing book about circling your dreams in prayer (Thanks Sherry!) I have chosen to have a vision beyond my resources. This trip will cost $15,500, and I am prayerfully asking God to provide where He is leading. Through the finanacial and prayer support of those in my life, I will embrace this opportunity with the 100 mph run that I am known for. I have a habit of running full speed ahead in a direction, and for the first time in my life I am holding nothing back from my God.
I ask as you read this, you walk through this journey with me. Pray for me. Pray for my team. Pray for the people we will encounter on this race across the world. Ask God how you can be part of this amazing experience. Give sacrificially, and know that God's word does not return void!

"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
