This month, my team and I were in Chiang Mai, Thailand working with an organization called Lighthouse in Action. The founder, Emmi, is dedicated to ending human trafficking in Thailand. Therefore, our main ministry this month has been going into the bars at night and befriending and building relationships with the women and lady-boys there.
One night, as we were all interceding and praying for the night, I went out to the balcony to sit and talk with God alone. There, I asked the Lord a question that had been pressing on my heart ever since we toured two Buddhist temples the day before: Lord, what would it take for a country that is 94% Buddhist to be turned upside down on it’s head??
His response?? They need to see Christ.
They need to see Christ. Not me. Not anyone on my team. But Christ. Just Christ.
God, how do we get to that point?? What does it take to get to the point where You are so evident in our lives?? Where when we go into the bars, when we walk the streets, when we shop in the markets, instead of seeing 12 white (one black J ) Americans, they see Christ??
John 12:24- “I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.
What would it look like for us to truly die to ourselves. For Christ to fully come alive in us. For us to walk in the freedom that He has already given us. The freedom that is already ours. The freedom that is just waiting for us to wake up, grab hold and take possession of it. What would that look like??
I want that.
I. WANT. THAT.
Why??
Because there are nations inside of me.
And there are nations inside of YOU.
And there are nations inside of the women in those bars.
I mean, for Heaven’s sake, Jesus took twelve men and turned the whole world upside down. TWELVE. And they were able to continue long after Christ died because the Spirit of God was so alive in them.
He wants to do the same thing in us. Will you let Him??
