“Yesterday we went on a walk. To talk about life, feedback, joys. To just be in His presence, enjoying the world He allows us to live in.
We decided to go down a new road, not knowing if it was actually a road or a driveway. We walked for a while, passing fields of stunning purple flowers, beautiful views of volcanoes and the city, and getting sprinkled on by the sky.
While walking, we see a woman carrying dried leaves, sticks, and cabbage in her shawl.
It turned out to be a lady whom Jess had really connected with the past 2 months at the soup kitchen. We ran up to her, eager to be in her presence, outside of Thursday morning soup kitchen dancing. When we were feeling defeated, the Lord placed her in our path (literally) as a pick me up/this is why you are here.
We talked to her for a while and she told us the walk on this certain road was beautiful and we should walk that way. We joyfully said okay, goodbye, and started walking.
After about fifty feet of walking, a gigantic black dog and his dog friend decided they did not wan us walking down their street. They came barking and sprinting at us. It was absolutely terrifying. We hauled butt out of there. We ran, the dogs ran after us, we screamed, the dogs barked- it was a whole lot of chaos.
All the while this is happening, our sweet little lady friend is watching. The dogs eventually stop chasing us and we went to rest with our sweet friend. The smile and laughter coming from this woman made being almost attacked by a dog worth it. She grabbed a long branch and started waving it and barking to scare the dogs away. She then proceeded to hand the branch to Jess for protection.
Then, we walked. Side by side with our friend. Her showing the beauty in the little things on the path she takes each day. The little stream she said she washed in, the mountain that some of her friends live on. On our walk, she showed us what beauty and joy of te Lord truly is.
“The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.”
Psalm 65:8
