“God, seriously?

Are you really going to change the plans again?”

Those were my first thoughts when my squad got an email on Friday telling us about a possible route change. In the email, AIM explained that India and Malaysia were very similar countries culturally, told us that Ecuador would have more ministry opportunities and asked for our vote, whether we would want to go to Ecuador or not. Our whole team talked about it, prayed about it, and then we each individually voted. Some voted “Malaysia,” some voted “Ecuador,” and some voted “I don’t care.”

That night, I was a ball of emotions. I wasn’t stressed out or scared or sad or happy about the possible change… I actually have no idea what emotions I was feeling. My best friend called and listened to me babble on about what I was feeling and then prayed for me. It was during that prayer that I fell apart. (Kyndal, I’m not sure if you could tell or not, but while you were praying, I was a crying mess.) While she was praying, God placed these four words on my heart… THY WILL BE DONE… and Jeremiah 29:11… “For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” I knew that God was going to do remarkable things with my squad, whether in Malaysia or Ecuador.

As the days after the voting deadline went by, my team got more and more eager to hear the news. Today, we got an email saying that after much consideration of our votes, looking at logistics and what would be in the best interest for us as a team, and so much prayer, the final decision is Ecuador.

The team chatter started back up (not that it had ever stopped), some people very happy with this decision… others, not as much. But one thing we all know is that wherever we are, India, Malaysia, Ecuador, Zambia, the United States, Canada, we are going to do what God has called us to do. God is calling us to be His hands and feet. We are going to do that. Wherever He needs us. He is good, oh so good.
