As this “Race” around the world continues and I continue to share God’s story to the nations, new struggles and better memories keep popping up. I don’t expect this to ever change as life goes on and continues to surprise me. These two months have been nothing less than incredible and no picture or words could describe all the events and changes that have taken place with me. Everyday Jesus becomes more real, sacrifices become greater, and people are changed, usually never realizing the change until you evaluate yourself a couple months down the road. I can confidently say I’m not the same person two months ago, I’m easily less dependent on materialism, I have greater faith (but still lacking), and have more understanding of God’s word and will in my life. When I started this journey two months ago I was “Set” so to speak. I had two good jobs, had just graduated with a kinesiology degree and was looking into certain graduate schools, I had life planned and frankly thought I knew it all. I was sound in doctrine and loved school and theology on the side. I say all this just to show how wrong I was and how although you can think you have it all together God usually has different plans. No matter how much we think we know about God, if He is the infinite God we believe Him to be there is always so much more to learn and most importantly experience in God. As I seek God these next 9 months I expect the challenges to be greater, sacrifices to rise, and growth to be exponential. I believe I’ll experience God in new ways, ways that I never could have in America. I think this mainly because I have set myself apart this year to seek God with my whole heart and we all know the promises that come along with that.
The memories I’ve obtained this month would have to include:
- · Playing soccer at the “Boy foster homes”
- · Leading morning devotions with the students
- · Coffee
- · Sharing my testimony in chapel
- · Worshiping at New Life Church in down town San Jose
- · Drinking coconut water, which caused me to reminiscent about my past life in PNG
- · Tutoring a fourth grader in science
- · Hiking a volcano for 9hrs
- · God’s word and all the great people who have been impacting me
That’s the best I can do for summing up everything that has been happening here in Costa Rica. The only other thing worth mentioning is in my downtime I’m learning a lot about coffee and have picked, peeled and finished the wetting process for my coffee beans. All I have left is to dry them out and roast them tomorrow and hopefully have the world’s best cup of coffee.
Prayer Requests: Continue to pray for my growth in knowledge of God as well as experiencing Him in new ways. Pray for my discernment in the NOW to know who to talk to, where to go, and what to say. Pray for Logistics as we go through 4-5 airports to get to Thailand on the 30th of November.
If you have any questions about Costa Rica, my blog, or anything please just post a question. Accountability is crucial for ministry and I would love to hear what you have to say as well as any questions that have gone unanswered.
