This morning as I was spending my quiet time with God, He revealed something to me that I just cannot fully wrap my head around: I am His son!
I was reading through Acts 19 this morning where it talks about how some of the followers of Paul had picked up some of his clothing and had the faith to believe that if they touched the sick with Paul’s clothes that they would surely be healed…and they were! I had never read this before or at least not picked up on it. I know that Jesus had the power just being who He was to have people touch his clothes and get healed (Matthew 9:20-22), but I never realized that those who follow Him and live as sons and daughters of the living God also have this…faith? power? ability? Obviously it isn’t in our own doing, but through faith alone God heals the sick.
This has thrown me into a whirlwind of confusion and joy as I am coming to realize that this is just one small piece of the magnitude that God created us to be in the first place. That He created us to have the faith in simply who we are to know Him and His desires and people would get healed without us so much as touching them! That God’s power would literally stick to our clothing because He has called us royalty under Him!
THIS IS AMAZING!
Later on in that same chapter in Acts it says that witch doctors had seen Paul and his followers use Jesus’ name to cast out demons. In seeing this they decided they would try it and do you know what happened? The demons inside the man that they were trying to cast out looked at them and said, “We have known Jesus and have heard of Paul, but who are you?” and at that had the man they possessed attack the witch doctors and beat them up.

The first thing I thought of after getting this revelation was a scene from the Lord of the Rings in the Two Towers where Gandalf the White approaches the King of Rohan who has been secretly overthrown by Soromon the White. King Theodon (King of Rohan) represents as a man who is possessed by a demon (Soromon) and Gandalf the White represents a son of God walking in his authority as a son. When Gandalf first approaches King Theoden and tries to kick Soromon out of him, Soromon laughs at him because he has not yet realized that Gandalf has died and come back a White wizard (representing holiness and authority). “Who do you think you are Gandalf the Grey?” says Soromon through King Theoden. At this Gandalf the White throws off his grey cloak and reveals his new white attire. Soromon in King Theoden’s body screams in horror at seeing the new found power and authority of Gandalf and is forced off the scene.
God is showing me that this is the power that we now have in Christ! Not to kick the enemy’s butt (which is fun to do), but to claim victory for Christ as we are ambassadors and sons of the Kingdom of Heaven! People that we used to know may see us as the same people wearing the same old clothes, but in reality we have been given white robes of righteousness by God and are now walking alongside Him in His rule. Hahaha we are sons and daughters of the Living God!! Even the things we touch are radically changed by Him who lives in us!
