His name is Slui and he has a heart of gold! Slui is about 30 years old and lives at the Kadesh Orphanage in Bierra, Mozambique. Slui was born with autism, but that hasn't stopped him from doing the things he loves most.
This month has been such a privilege because I've gotten to see the heart of Christ revealed through this wonderful man. I cannot tell you of a time where I passed by him and he didn't tell me hello, ask me if I wanted to ride the motorcycle, or if there was anything he could do to help. He never says it just to be polite, but because his heart truly lies in serving those around him.
Every night before we went to bed Slui always made sure all of the guys were accounted for and the door was locked so that we were safe. Every morning at breakfast he made sure everyone was eating and satisfied. Every night Slui gets on the motorcycle, something which he enjoys very much, and walks it across the property making sure that everything on it is working. I wish you could just meet this guy!
Even on the night that we were attacked Slui wasn't worried about himself, but asked me to catch him as he jumped from his bedroom window, which is located on second story, so that he could help chase the thieves. I don't know too many people out there who would be willing to endanger themselves to Mozambican thieves, much less to jump out of a window to do it! I believe we have so much to learn from people like Slui, whose hearts are so aligned with Christ that they are willing to do anything to help those around them.
I'm currently still at $10,900 out if the $15,500 I need to stay in the race. Please keep me in your prayers and consider donating. If your interested in donating to my World Race account please click the "Support Me!" Tab on the left hand side if this page.
