Everyone has a story that needs to be told, but we have lost the art of storytelling. We don't sit around the camp fire as much and tell stories of our lives (the good, the bad, and the ugly).  We don't pass down stories to our kids and grandkids. Is it because we don't have a story to tell, or that we don't know how to tell it? What is holding you back from sharing your story: fear, rejection, or just not thinking you have anything good to say?

You have a choice to live a great story (LAGS). A choice to do things you have never done before and then share, encourage, and empower others to do the same.

The gospel is a story. The bible is a bunch of profound stories, and Jesus told stories (parables). We as humans are attracted and drawn to stories. Every person is a book and has so many different chapters to their lives showing how they got to where they are now.

You have a testimony of how you came to know The Lord. Some people will say, “I have a boring testimony. I grew up in the church and now I am here.” First off, you were dead now you are alive. You were raised from the dead (you were falling to hell now you are being raised to heaven). Being raised from the dead is a miracle in and of itself. Your testimony doesn't stop once you know The Lord – that is just the forward to the rest of your life. You will overcome the devil by the blood of the lamb and the power of your testimony. The way you live your life is a living story, one that people get to see, that points to Jesus.

I have a couple little stories from my stay in Costa Rica.

Football

I believe I had a once in a lifetime opportunity to play professional football in Costa Rica. I won't go into the details of how this opportunity from heaven fell into my lap but basically, one of the missionaries that worked at the school where we were helping made it happen. I went to the practices and built relationships with guys on the team, and I got to share with them what I was doing in Costa Rica.  I shared my testimony with some guys on the ride home from practice, made some lifetime friends, and memories with these guys. I am welcome back anytime. I also played pretty well in the game; I had a touchdown, 3 catches for 50 yards, a run for 40 and some solid tackles playing defense. They wanted to interview me after the game but couldn't because I don’t know enough Spanish. I also made the front page. It was really a blessing from God and He used all of this for His glory. Such a real way of living everyday life to further God’s kingdom.

German Girl

There was this girl on our bus from Nicaragua to Costa Rica. Some teammates talked to her on the way down. All I did was introduce myself, but she emailed me later that week saying she was moved by my blog and spoken word. This is what she said, "I read your blog called  beautiful and  the sand-thing you're talking about in your video touched me. I just wanted to wish you the best for your trip, I'm sure you'll make a change in the life of many people. Stay strong for your faith! :)"

Sharing Testimony

I had the opportunity to share my Testimony three times this month. Once on a Sunday in front of the whole church.  Another time in the car on the way home from practice and another time to a public school high school. It was a blessing to be able to share and each time people where moved. Not because of what I have done but because of what Christ has done in me.  Look for opportunities to share yours.

Andrew

Andrew was the professor at the bible college. He was a very wise man with a great sense of humor. We shared a lot with each other, from theology to family and everything else in between. We shared story after story, each time being encouraged and blessed by what one another had to say. I was encouraged by this man of strong conviction and integrity, and I am excited to see how we connect later on in life and ministry.

Milisa and Mikah

They were our contacts and an amazing man and woman of God. I was so blessed by their ministry and how they went about life. They imparted their knowledge and wisdom to us in such a real way, and we would share stories and laugh and learn from each other. There was so much depth to each of them. Also, they had a little boy named Tyce.

There are so many stories to be told in each of these relationships, even though I only knew them for a month. I encourage you to live a great story, then share it with everyone so they will go and do the same. Tell your story because it needs to be told.
