This week I have been blessed with many different opportunities to preach. I have actually spoke three times in the last week. The first on a Sunday at church. Second, on Wednesday on a radio show; in which half a million people listen in. Third, on Friday, at a church in the mountains. It went really well and it is a beautiful picture seeing two languages come together to worship God.
When I preached on Sunday My main point was
"The greater view we have of Christ the greater we will love and live for Him"
1st point Living Alive with Jesus:
There is a difference between living life and living alive. People can be living life but can be completely dead on the inside. Like a tree can look great on the outside but the inside is rotted out. A marriage can look fine to the rest of the world but on the inside it is dead. I believe Christians who have a relationship with Jesus can just be living life going through motions. "Faith without works is dead." Jesus tells us how to live alive. Not just live. Romans 6: First thing to live alive is being a Living sacrifice. Giving yourself to Jesus. Being selfless not selfish. Giving up what you want and doing what Christ wants. 2nd to live alive Obey. You are a slave to who you obey. So be a slave to righteousness; that is what you where designed to do. When Jesus asks you to do something your response should always be "Yes" If you obey and give yourself as a living sacrifice then you will not just live but live alive.
2nd point Planted with Jesus:
Psalm 1 Being rooted and grounded in Jesus. Allowing the hand of God to uproot you from where you are and plant you on good soil. Because who you surround yourself with is who you will become. If you're planted with Jesus you need to allow the hand of God to remove the rocks and the weeds in your life that are stunting your growth. So you can flourish into this beautiful tree that gives life to other planted by streams of living water. (Trees give off oxygen) Analogy of the Redwood The roots of Redwood trees go deep but wide as well. They are able to hold each other up during storms because they are rooted in each other. Also, when one of the trees get sick together they are able to feed it the nutrients it needs bring it back to life. We are redwoods and we need to surround ourselves in good community. Be rooted in each other so we can bring each other back to life and hold each other up through the storms of life.
3rd point Raised with Jesus:
Colossians chp 2 and 3 Talks about how we have been raised with Jesus and have new lives. The old life is dead the new life has come. "the greater view we have of Christ the greater we will love and live for Him" I believe Christ wants to take us to new heights and he is raising up a generation of warriors. Sons and daughters of the most high. This includes old and young whether you are 85 or 7yrs old we can learn from each other about the kingdom of God. It is a choice to put on Jesus. Even though he never leaves you. He lives inside of us but we cover him up with ourselves. That's why we need to die to ourselves. We need to put on love and forgiveness daily. We wake up spiritually naked everyday and we need to put on love and kindness: the fruits of the spirit. Put on the armor of God.
4th point Seated with Jesus:
Ephesians 2 talks about being seated with God. I believe our Heavenly Father has picked up his children and put us on His lap. Just like when a child reaches up to his parents they pick them up: God will do the same with us. When we raise our hands to Him. He will pick us up! "the greater view we have of Christ the greater we will love and live for Him"
Wednesday : I talked to the men of Honduras. I spoke on the DNA of men. What they where designed to do. As men, we are designed to provide, to lead, to protect, to build a family. I talked about redemption and how David in the bible was a man after God's own heart even though he messed up and committed adultery. God still called him a man after his own heart and he was redeemed.
Fridays 1. you are created beautiful psalms 139
-God spoke things into existence and we can do the same.
2. You have beautiful feet
– The carriers of the gospel and carriers of the kingdom of God.
3. You are a beautiful butterfly
-The transformation you have been through is amazing.
