Time has passed so quickly that I think someone may have put me into a time machine… what year is it?… No, but seriously, training camp begins this week. This week will be a week of reflection and preparation of every sort.

Back to the time passing quickly thing…The past 9 months have passed with incredible speed. Ever since I decided to go through the process of applying for the world race, my life has felt like an arrow on a precise trajectory. This arrow has a target, as I hope most arrows do. It feels like everything else in life has been flying past me as I near closer and closer to the goal. And as I near closer and closer to launch, I have realized… It’s time to slow down and reflect Kyle. So here is my attempt at unpacking my mind.
What an awkward feeling… To leave everything for total unknown. To say I am scared wouldn’t be accurate. It just feels totally strange. I want you to understand why I feel strange. Let me bring you into my world for just a moment….
To start off, I just bought a pair of boxers that advertise, “one pair for six weeks”, how is that even possible? I am trying to figure out how to pack for a year, in a backpack… I just bought medical insurance that covers rescue helicopters into the Amazon. I have a folding hat… nerd alert. I won’t be home for Christmas or any other event or holiday, and I am tight with my family. I am eating chic-fila out of sentiment. I am reading books on survival skills in the Andes. I have one class left in undergrad…
So, here I sit, laughing to myself and reflecting on how good Jesus is, and excited about what is what is to come.
Also, a little update on fundraising. There is a deadline on May 21st. This deadline is $3500. No need to worry, because my account currently reads $7,700! That means I am half way funded!
Here is a little tip on supporting me. Sponsor me by donating monthly during the 11 months, you can do this under the “support me” tab on the left. This will help me greatly, and remind you every month to pray for this team.
Keep an eye out on the blog for the next week, lots is about to happen.
