I was given two unexpected gifts this week. No, it is not Christmas yet. No, it is not my birthday or any other holiday. These came totally unexpected and totally caught me off guard. Let me elaborate… I walked into work the other day for a “important meeting”. You know how those go, usually not too good. My mind began to spin, imagination running at 5,000 rpm. The “bad” news was interrupted with a background story. My boss goes on to explain to the staff of our relatively small ministry that he and his wife picked us out gifts from a local restaurant. I thought to myself, “sweet”! I didn’t need a gift, the job is a blessing enough in itself.

To make this long story short, our staff of a little over 20 all had gift bags in our hands. We waited anxiously to open the gifts and then get on to hear the bad news. My mind was still so captured by the expectation of this news that the gift didn’t seem that exciting. Nothing like someone making bad news less bad by giving you something before they break the news. We opened our bag and what I saw nearly made me jump out of my seat. My boss and his wife bought every single person on our staff an iPad. Yes, I know, extremely generous! There was no bad news by the way, just a fabricated meeting to give us all gifts.

Not only did I get an iPad that day, but I went home to check my support for the World Race. As I logged in, I expected to see nothing, especially since i just finished my support letter. Another gift, a very big one as well. The giver line said, “anonymous”…

The feeling that came over me when receiving these gifts was also unexpected. The only word that comes to mind is humbled. Why you ask? Here is why… I do not deserve them. I am undeserving of an iPad, support for my trip and heck, even food on the table. If I really got what I deserved it wouldn’t be pretty. I am humbled because I got something great that I did not deserve. These events are just the beginning of a very humbling process of support raising.’

This reminded me of what God does for us.

Luke 11:13 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

I am slowly learning to live my life with faith that God is truly provider.

Also, whoever decided to support me, thank you for using your resources to grow my faith in Jesus and support His Church globally.

What have you received that truly humbled you?
