We have finished up our second full week here in El Salvador. Things are still great with the team; I really get along with them very well. We are also treated amazingly here by our host family. We are served great food and always asked what we need and want.
Neither my teammates nor I have taken pictures this month, and I did not want to do another blog without pictures so I’m going to share pictures from the previous 10 months that haven’t made it on the blog yet.

Ministry has not been the best or most intellectually stimulating to put it one way. Our ministry consists of outreach in various forms. We spend most weekdays going door to door. On many days we don’t have a translator so we sit there quietly. Rachel and Justin are able to say a few things, but most of the talking is done by the El Salvadoran church members. I’m very happy and encouraged to see how so much of an effort at reaching the lost is put forth by the church members here. I know we serve a purpose because people want to invite north americans into their homes, and once that happens the gospel is able to be preached. It definitely gets boring at times though, God is teaching me patience, and some days it feels as if were just a foreign people parade.

Last saturday night we showed a movie to the village in which we were doing outreach. Not to go into details, but the video was not the best. This weekend we’ve been participating and speaking at a revival service in another neighborhood which has been another blessing. On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week we’ve been visiting church members in another neighborhood. In this particular area the church is having internal problems that has lowered its numbers from 85 to 24 people. Our pastor’s heart breaks for this village, and he had us visit about 2 houses per day to encourage the people that God wants them to get back involved in church.

So yeah thats 3 different neighborhoods we’ve done outreach in. I really respect the fact that our pastor has a heart not only for those in his church and neighborhood but is greatly concerned about planting churches, making disciples, and nurturing believers in other areas. It is also great to see the importance of the individual in our pastors eyes. Most days we only visit 2 to 3 houses as our pastor will sit and talk with people for hours at a time. He truly has Jesus’ mentality to leave the flock to go after the one lost sheep.

Sorry if this blog is simply about our Pastor. And sorry I don’t know his name, we simply call him Pastor. I’m greatly encouraged by the local church here in El Salvador. And this blog is really about them, because they are doing most of the work. We are just coming alongside as their brothers and sisters and supporting them in whatever way we can.
When you sponsor a child it not only provides a hot meal, clean water, discipleship, and basic medical care for the child, it also supports their family by inviting them through the gates of the CarePoint to receive training, discipleship and mentorship.
