We
are officially half way through training week here in White, GA. I have had quite an experience this week as
we have done interesting activities to say the least (Getting logs across a
lake without getting wet and camping on an island and having to get people and
supplies to the island without getting wet).
I have really enjoyed getting to know my team; I have cliqued with quite
a few guys on my team. I was nervous
before training camp, during the first few days of training camp and still
nervous about traveling overseas but I do see God working to ease the
nerves. The food has been a crapshoot as
we have had some great meals (lasagna) and some terrible meals (Ugabe which is
an African dish that tastes like bland grits).
Please pray for our team members and team leaders for the rest of
training camp as we are learning who are teammates will be throughout the
trip. Our teams consist of 7-8 people
that we spend the most time with throughout the year. God just encouraged and challenged me just a
few minutes ago through reading David Platt’s book Radical. David points out that in Matthew 9:37, 38
Jesus says to his disciples “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are
few. Ask the Lord of the harvest,
therefore, to send workers into his harvest field.” Jesus says this after meeting the poor and
sick, so it is amazing that instead of encouraging his disciples to take action
or pray specifically for the sick, he believed that the first step is to pray
for the church. We as a body need to
pray for the nations daily, Jesus commands us to. I am looking forward to being back in
Birmingham and Auburn here in a few days to see my friends and family one last
time. Please pray for the Nations.
