SOOOO… Training Camp is in 11 very short days!
I can’t believe time has flown by in a blink and the time has come to actually meet my squad, face to face, in real life! From the moment I was accepted to our Facebook group, I felt an instant connect and camaraderie with these 80 strangers from all over the US (and 1 in Canada). It has been like nothing I have ever experienced in my life and of course that bond has grown as we go to war together, encourage each other, pray for each other, rejoice in blessings through fundraising and gathering all of our equipment and many more wonderful and amazing things. Words can’t even begin to describe the love I have in my heart for these people who really have never felt like strangers.
They feel like the family I always had and just never knew.
No one I talk to quite understands the implications of what this World Race actually is. It is not just a glorified vacation or an abandonment of all things comfortable… it is a year long journey to discover God while we have nothing to hold onto but Him. To reach the people in each country, town and village that He has divinely set in our paths to share the Love that we have found in Christ. Not all of our stories are the same, but the Light and Hope and Truth of our Savior is. We will be stretched, squeezed, and broken to pieces all so that God can build us back up to be more like Him. We will be asked to see others the way God sees them, and to love the ones who often are overlooked.
We will become lighthouses that shine far and wide, reaching many,
instead of night lights with a dim glow bound within 4 walls.
My heart is racing with excitement for what will manifest as we come together. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to have the privilege of knowing and doing life with. They each have their own unique personalities, likes, dislikes, quirks and mannerisms and it is beautiful.
It is amazing to see how different we can look and sound, but how our hearts beat with the same passion to see Jesus move in miraculous ways as we embark on this journey.
Not just in our own lives and each others, but in the lives of the people whom we have not yet met thousands of miles away. I could go on and on about how my life has already begun to change from the moment I heard the name of the World Race. From that moment that my heart fluttered to now, waiting in anticipation to step foot in the Atlanta airport, decked out in blue (our squad color), representing the January 2015 N Squad…
I couldn’t feel more at home.
Not home in the sense of many walls and amenities, but home in the sense of right
exactly
where
I
belong.
