An Ode to April 18, 2011
Today we celebrate that our taxes are done
Paperwork completed, numbers crunched,
with high hopes that the return is a generous sum.
Today I also celebrate 27 years on this earth
A roof over my head, food in the fridge,
a party with friends toasting to life’s worth.
A lovely date to note this eleventh year of two thousand
Because tax day and my birthday
Has never happened before, and may never again.
So I invite you to celebrate this special day
