Something overcame me the first time I heard this prayer. More like someone, rather. I think it’s easy to stay in the comfort of the lives we create for ourselves. It’s easy to accept lies as truth and forget about our dreams. We complicate things. We give excuses, we create rules for ourselves, and we choose to forget about God’s promises for our lives.
Andy Stanley wrote, “Everyone ends up somewhere in life. Few end up there on purpose.” Jesus calls all of us to journey with Him – to venture out past our deepest insecurities, fears, and failures, knowing that we cannot do it on our own. He calls us to have a childlike faith and to trust in Him.
Jesus calls us to tread in unknown waters. He will meet us there, and He’s worth it.
“Spirit lead me where by trust is without borders, let me walk upon the waters, wherever you would call me. Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander and my faith would be made stronger in the presence of my Savior.”
