I am so excited to share some amazing news with you!
Over the last several years God has been breaking my heart for what breaks His. I have always had a heart for serving the marginalized in our world and I had the opportunity to travel to Nairobi and Isiolo, Kenya with a Medical Mission team in September 2011. During that trip the burden to serve became stronger on my heart. While meeting with my small group last year, I voiced my desire to travel the world spreading the love of Christ, which He has so graciously given to me, to those who feel neglected and unloved. I believe that God has prepared me and honored that desire with a unique opportunity.
Through several events in my life, I was presented with The World Race. The World Race is an 11 month Christian mission trip to 11 different countries around the world through the mission organization, Adventures in Missions (AIM). On the World Race my team and I will serve in partnership with churches, ministries and organizations in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children who are trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, engage in HIV/AIDS education and bring the restoration and hope of God’s love to many around the world. I will be embarking on the January 2014 route 3. This route starts in Central America where we will serve in Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. It then continues to Africa: South Africa, Swaziland and Mozambique and then Asia: Thailand, Philippines, Myanmar and Malaysia. I am looking forward to extending the love, life and lordship of Christ in each of these countries as I build real and authentic relationships with my teammates and those we will be serving.
Since being accepted to the World Race, God has shown up and confirmed His will in so many ways. One significant way is that in preparation to leave for 11 months I decided to sell my house. My desire is to move into an apartment for the last few months of the year so I can save more towards my mission trip. My house was placed on the market on May 25th. I sensed the Holy Spirit prompting me to step out in faith and believe Him to sell my house quickly, so I told those close to me that I was staying in FULL faith that God would sell my house in one week. This was a major step of faith since the house directly opposite mine has been on the market for over a year and is currently still on the market. On June 1st, exactly one week from when my home was put on the market, I accepted an offer and signed a contract of sale! God is faithful! To Him alone be the glory!
To go on the World Race I need to raise $17,500. $15,500 of this will cover all of my expenses on the field. I need to raise an additional $2,000 for supplies like a tent and sleeping bag and other pre-trip expenses. I would like to raise the funds by October 31st.
