It’s FINALLY Happened!
I have fallen in love! The real, crazy, can’t think about anyone else, madly and deeply kind of love. I know some of you never thought this day would come. Many of you questioned if I would ever find the love of my life since I am obviously unaware of my “ticking clock”. Well, to all you naysayers and hopeless romantics alike, breathe easy – this is the REAL thing.
I’m not exactly sure when it happened or how long it took, but isn’t that how most of the amazing love stories are played out? All I know is that I’m here, in Thailand, in love, and it’s the best feeling ever!
If you haven’t found a love that simply knocks you off your feet and leaves you in daily awe and amazement, let me be the first to tell you that there is hope! Being that I’ve never been one to keep wonderful things all to myself, I figured that it’s my duty to let you know how you can fall in love too:
- NEVER EXPRESS YOUR INTEREST IN SOMEONE WHO HASN’T PURSUED YOU FIRST
Now I know this may sound a little “old fashioned”, but trust me, it works and you will thank me later. I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve been hurt or embarassed after pining over someone who I thought “maybe, possibly, probably, could be, should be, if I tilt my head in the right direction during the next full moon” was interested in me. They didn’t pursue me, they just told me hello and smiled. (Yeah, I know – I was SOOOOOO DUMB!) This guy who I’m in love with pursued me for years – most of the time while I was completely ignoring him. He gave me gift after gift after gift and now that we’re ‘an item’ he continues to pursue me daily. Each day is new, exciting, and beautiful, just like the first. <3
- SPEND LOTS OF TIME WITH HIM
Once you realize that you’re being pursued, chased, and admired, take time to get to know him. Talk to him daily, find out what he likes and dislikes, learn about his family and dreams for the future. While you’re spending time getting to know him, don’t forget to share who you are with him as well. Share what you’re thinking, when you’re hurting, and why you love him. Even though he’s pursued you for quite some time and probably knows a lot about you, this still needs to be a 2 way relationship. That means both talking and listening. If at any point during this courtship you feel that your guy is a jerk, then let him go. However, if he’s anything like my guy, you’ll find out that he is probably the best thing since sliced bread. The more and more that you discover about him, the more you’ll wonder how you got so lucky. At this point, you are on the edge of the cliff and very close to falling.
- TALK ABOUT HIM TO YOUR FRIENDS & FAMILY (Heck, anyone who’ll listen!)
This may not seem like it has anything to do with YOU falling in love with HIM, but it does! Sometimes when I taste some delicious ice cream, I sit to myself and think “my goodness, this is some incredible Blue Bell Ice Cream!”. If I leave it at that, all I’ve had is a good moment, by myself, with some enjoyable ice cream. However, when I talk to my friends and other people about Blue Bell, the best ice cream in the country, I get excited! As I talk about it, I can almost taste it and I begin to crave it more. I go into detail about what makes it delicious and I try my best to get them to try it as well. It’s in those moments, when I’m sharing the goodness that my man possesses, that I realize I’ve fallen in love. The more you talk about your new friend, the more you become aware of what’s so wonderful about him. The more you become aware of this, the more you realize that you can’t imagine life without him. When this happens, it hits you – YOU’RE IN LOVE!
Like I said, I can’t explain when it happened – it just did. I was sitting in a Thai church, singing my love song to Jesus and thinking about how our relationship has evolved, when it hit me – I AM MADLY IN LOVE WITH THIS MAN!
It’s beautiful.
It gives me butterflies.
It makes me laugh.
It makes me cry.
It’s LOVE! And it’s something that I want you to experience for yourself because Jesus is just that good – even better than Blue Bell Ice Cream.
