Sorry for the delay in writing a blog. Thanks for all the prayers, love, and support.  So we have now been in Dublin for a week… YIPPPEEE!!! Our first couple of days were spent in our wonderful tents with the rain, wind, and cold, but we survived…

My team – team Benkadi – has been working/living at a homeless shelter called “The Lighthouse.” It has been so fun to be apart of such a special ministry. They are actually a part of the Dublin Christian Mission, which is the second oldest Missions in the WORLD. Pretty cool.

Our tasks have included sorting and organizing all the clothes in what our contact – Roscheanne – calls “The Dungeon”..haha kinda of scary at first. I know you are wondering why we are wearing hideous dresses – well you see we thought it would be fun to dress up in some of these “fashionable” clothes while we organized – and it indeed made it more enjoyable. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays “The Lighthouse” has worship/ teaching, and will serve dinner to whoever. We got to work along side of these Irish volunteers and it was neat to hear some of their stories about how they came to know Christ. One of my teammates – Madeline – shared part of her testimony – I was so proud of her.

Today we did some hard labor – also in our highly fashionable clothes that we borrowed from the shelter. We cleaned out this room with all sorts of stuff – including a few dead rats, that Roscheanne (our contact) threatened to put in a stew for us to eat if we didn’t do a good job…..hehe he was just joking though no need to worry 😉 We then put all the trash (or rubbage as the Irish would say) in  a “SKIP BAG” which is basically a disposable dumpster (pictured above). Then we spent the rest of the day scrubbing the building with bleach from top to bottom. They are actually wanting to rennovate the building. The building is in pretty bad shape, but oh boy do I see potential in it – sometimes being a designer is frustrating because you often think of all the possibilities if you only had the money to do so…hehe!! It has been such a joy to see the volunteers love for the Lord and for the homeless of Ireland.
