Filling the Gap

This month we are working with a website, ForGood.com. The website is all about getting people involved in the community. We make appointments with churches, non-profits, orphanages, and other existing organizations to get the world out about ForGood as well as ways we can serve alongside them. It’s been such a heart felt experience to see all the “good” that is going on in Joburg. Each appointment opens my eyes to new ways I want to serve when I get home.

The following is a news story I wrote for one of the organizations I went to this past week:

“Filling the Gap”

After meeting with two of the representatives for Oasis
Haven, my heart goes out for their ministry. They have a passion and desire to
change the world one child at a time. They are not just an adoption agency;
they are true family and friends to each child that walks through their doors. They
celebrate when children begin to walk, they weep when tragedies occur, and they
rejoice when obstacles are conquered. They believe and work on behalf of every
child in hopes of finding a safe family for them. They don’t just find four
walls for the children to sleep under at night, but they are searching for a
home where Christ’s love radiates in every room and in each person.

Oasis Haven’s goal is to fill the gap between orphans and
families. Being in an orphanage is not the final answer to a child’s life.
Praise God they have a temporary home, but there is more to the story. The
staff at Oasis Haven advocates for each child, fighting day in and day out to
give these children a hope and a future. The families are out there, the homes
are empty, and the love is just waiting to be felt.

Through God’s power and the passion of the staff, orphans in
South Africa are going to be saved!
