Launch….
A heart-felt goodbye
but an exciting hello. It’s never easy to say good bye to those that you
love. Thankfully, I had some of my new family waiting in New York to take my
mind off the sad and transition into the adventure. My parents dropped me off
at the airport. The first of many flights went off without a problem. New Years
in New York was a blast. Fifteen World racers meandering through NYC- let the
fun begin!
Exhausting. Twenty-four
hours of traveling can wear you out. I’m so thankfully for Tylenol PM. I slept
8 hours of the first flight and an hour in the second one. We had great accommodations,
but I still could not get the best of rest. After waking up every hour that
first night, I took more sleep medicine (I may or may not be addicted to it
already haha).
Information overload.
We finally learned what we are
supposed to do as leaders. It seemed that we had meetings after meeting but our
awesome leaders made them as fun as possible.
Traffic. Crossing
the street is like playing frogger with cars. Is that safe?!?! Driving is even
worse. There is no such thing as street rules in India.
Mosquitoes. The
mosquito net was one of the best inventions ever. I never thought I would say
that. After the second day in India, I had seventeen mosquito bites— I’m just
that sweet.
Emotional Roller
Coaster. Just like training camp, launch gets straight to the point. I have
been filled with the truth, asked those hard questions, and challenged to love all
like Christ loves us.
Fun. Can’t get
much better than Taylor Swift dance parties, triple decker hammock bonding,
adventure day in India, finding ice cream on the streets, fitting five people into an auto, and so much more!
Exciting. It’s
finally here. We are about to embark on a journey that is going to leave every
single person different at the end. I pray we all step out of our comfort
zones, are bold in our faith, and have fun along the way!
