This week I’ll be featuring 2 countries because last week completely slipped away from me! My apologies and thanks for bearing with me! The countries this week are Malaysia and Vietnam.

Malaysia is a beautiful country separated into eastern and western peninsulas, and is a bit of a melting-pot of races and religions. There are decent sized, concentrated groups of Chinese and Indians in this country due them being imported to help work tin mines and manufacture rubber. This country is noted as being one of the world’s largest exporters of electronics and appliances. Vietnam is a great country surrounded by the South China Sea on one side, while Cambodia, Laos and China border the other. It has held some of the highest economic growth in the world since the year 2000. Despite these successes, both Malaysia and Vietnam still deal with income inequality and extremes living side by side.

Malaysia is a federal constitutional monarchy while Vietnam operates under communism. In Malaysia, Islam is the largest religious group; however, religious freedom is maintained, and there are many other religions represented strongly due to the diversity of the country. Vietnam is predominantly Buddhist with a large group who claim to be non-religious.

I’m so looking forward to visiting these two countries!

How can you pray?

That the claimed religious freedom in Malaysia would be maintained so that followers of Jesus Christ would have the opportunity to share His Gospel in word and deed.

That Godly leaders would rise up within the political systems to help create unity. Many issues come out of the existing political and social division.

That believers in Vietnam would stand strong against persecution.

That the eyes of the people in both of these countries would be opened to see the eternal hope that can be found in the promises and treasure of a relationship with Jesus Christ.
