The more we do, the less Jesus can do. Have you ever thought about that? It is usually hard for us to grasp, let alone do. Your friends will tell you it’s not that bad, the voice in your head says just this once, maybe it’s even a parent hiding the sins of whatever is tempting you. I am not perfect. Neither are you. We all sin and we all do it differently. The Bible says that sinning is sinning so what is done is done. There are no levels of wrong so we are all just as guilty as the non-perfect person beside us. And so there is no room for judgement we are all giving in day by day, little by little.
You see the devil doesn’t come wearing red and breathing fire. Oh no that would be far too easy. He is your best friend, a bed full of sexual temptation, the bottle of whiskey you just cannot seem to put down. And that is ok because God does not ask us to be perfect for He knows we are flawed. I have lived a life of sin filled with some of the darkest darks and lowest lows this world has to offer. But I am here to tell you that I gave my life to Christ and the moment I witnessed that first kiss of grace was where I found freedom.
So do not go filling those holes in your heart and spirit with false lies, I ask please do not conform yourself to the ways of this world. Because there is no love there and at the end of the day that’s what all of us seek. But God is love. And his love is pure, unending and real. You were made and crafted in His image, a beautiful creation. You are not alone and if you put His love first you will shine like the heavens above us.
As above, so below.
But first you must run. You cannot back up slowly or walk on the line. You cannot even run along side of the fence because you might trip and land on the other side. No, this just won’t do and God made me a runner so I could describe this to you. You must run like hell. Do not simply avoid what does not bring you closer to God or even wait to take a chance. That feeling in your gut when something just isn’t right should trigger the sound of the gun at the start of your race. There is no time to hesitate and the devil is fast too. You run strong, without looking back until sweat drips out of every pore and your lungs are bursting.
Run my brothers and sisters. Being comfortable in Him will get us nowhere, do not fear risking it all for His glory. After all, the man above designed the race.
One last thing, this blog was inspired by Clayton Jennings and if you get time and want to be inspired check out some of his spoken word.
