Our contact this month is a man named Kelly. He has been in Cambodia since before the first election here (which means the country was still unstable). He has poured his heart into this orphanage that he runs here, but now it is time for him to go home to raise more support. This is something heartbreaking to him. This is because he longs to have parent figures in the orphanage at least while he is gone. Although there are 13 adults helping to run the orphanage there is not parent figures. This is something that has been on his heart for a time now.
The heartbreaking thing is he has put people in place in the past and they said that they wanted this, they wanted to be here for the long haul, but after a few months or even a year they can’t be here anymore. So they abandon the children or at least that is how the children feel. Kelly knows that this is a hard climate to minister in and so understands why people need to leave, but also knows this hurts the children. He longs to have someone who is committed to the children here for a long time, but also has issues trusting that they will stay what they promise. Please join me in prayer for a husband and wife to long for this place the way that Kelly does, that they can stand under the pressure of the spiritual climate here.
