This blog is based on Psalm 23:
A Psalm of David.
The LORD [is] my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You [are] with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.

This comes from a video I watched for Sunday School
The first part we have all heard – it is something repeated over and over in the Bible, but in church I relearned something about this passage had never been clear before. We are all sheep, and sheep know their master/shepherd by his feet. They do not look up enough or long enough to really know their shepherd by anything else. This is important because if you look back to Exodus the people referred to the pillar of fire and the cloud of smoke as God’s feet. In Revelation this is something that will happen again. Jesus will return and we will see His “feet” and know that it is our master. The second point about sheep knowing their shepherd is that they know his voice. If some stranger walks up to a herd of sheep and starts yelling the sheep will run, but if the sheep hear their shepherd they will know his voice.
The second part which is what stood out to me the most was that in Israel it is dry – unlike here in the States – there are no fields of grass that we know of. It is more like clumps.

God does not allows lead us to huge pastures, but small ones. God only provides what we need; and not all of what we need, but what we need at this moment. The shepherd could only find grass to fill his flock’s mouth, then they would move on. God wants us to know that He will provide and He will provide all we need right now, not what we need for tomorrow.
Although there was more this is what I found to be important. Since right now I wonder how and when God will provide. I must remember that He will provide and it will be when I need it and not a moment before.
