Tomorrow we leave for South Africa. I can’t believe month one is almost officially done. Our contacts are heading to a conference this week so we are ending ministry a few days earlier than everyone else on our squad. We are heading to Pretoria where 4 other teams are working this month to relax before meeting up with the entire squad to head into month 2. We don’t know what our ministry is for next month but I’m excited to see what it will be. We are also hoping to be in Pretoria in time to go to Passion Wednesday night!! It will be incredible to experience Passion in another country. LEGIT!  Here are a few highlights from Month 1 (thanks to Beth Barron for the blog idea and letting me copy. Love you =]) :

1.     God knew exactly what we needed month one. Having an alum racer as our contact has been amazing. She understands what we are doing and knew what we needed. We have been so blessed by Jenni, Felix, and Njiva. Thank you for everything!!

2.     God is breaking my heart for what breaks his. It hurts but I know it is a part of the process.

3.     Running water and Zesa (electricity) come and go on a daily basis. Shockingly I didn’t mind much. Headlamp and candlelight dinners and cooking by campfire is pretty nice. Bucket showers and bucket laundry aren’t that bad.

4.     Spontaneous dance parties and sing-a-longs while cooking dinner in the kitchen are a blast.

5.     My team is an incredible blessing to me. We have meshed together so well this month. God truly put us to be together.

6.     I love the children of Zimbabwe. Lovemo…enough said.

7.     Mutare, Zimbabwe has zero speech therapists and a great deaf children’s center. Can we fix this?

8.     God is definitely teaching me patience this month. African time versus my time. Nothing goes as planned.

These are just a few of the highlights that came to mind as I typed this really quickly. In short…

I fell in love with Zim this month!

Thank you for your continued support and prayers. Please pray for us as we travel tomorrow and prepare for our new ministries.
Heart and soul,
Kristi
