“chasing down hope.
moving on dreams.
taking that path.
maybe it’ll lead you home.
maybe it won’t.”
A dream. A ministry. A hope.
These three words describe my place of ministry this month here in Mozambique [month 10-just crazy]. Honestly these three words could represent many places, people, or things.
But not like they represent Beacon of Hope Africa.
Like all ministries, Beacon of Hope has a story. It always begins somewhere. And as most, Beacon of Hope has good one…one you can read HERE.
But that is not really what I want to tell you about. What I want to tell you about is where it is at now.
So it began with a dream. But what happens when it is 14 years later and that dream has been battered by government corruption, physical violence, theft, cheating, distrust and a whole lotta Darkness? Do you think that dream emerges squeaky clean, unscathed?
Well I am here to tell you- it doesn’t.
It looks like fear, disappointment, doubt and ironically- hopelessness.
And what it does not look like is failure or defeat.
Seriously, those words are foreign to God. He does not even have them in His vocabulary. Those words are ones that we’ve made up, that the Enemy whispers to us when we’ve been knocked down.
Just as a lighthouse does, Light slices through those raging seas and that overwhelming Darkness to remind us, to guide us toward the Truth,
“’For I know the plans I have for you’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.’”
Jeremiah 29:11
Perhaps one of the most well- known verses can be one of the hardest to believe. And I know that we as Americans usually know our plans so this isn’t as hard to comprehend, to believe sometimes. Honestly, it wasn’t for me until this Race. But I am telling you when you are where God has called you to be and you find yourself surrounded on every side, becoming a Beacon of Hope, a Light…comes at a whole new cost.
So, here’s to all you Beacons, who feel surrounded on every side. Know that God is right there with you and is your ever-present Beacon of Hope.
“nobody knows why your heart is broken.
nobody cries while your prayers are going up.
but Love does.”
Like every ministry I have had the privilege of sharing about, Beacon of Hope has needs. But perhaps is biggest need right now is PRAYER. Will you please be the brother or sister in Christ that this ministry needs right now and lift them up to our Saviour?
Please pray specifically for:
1. Angie [Angie is the founder of Beacon of Hope].
2. Running water [this is Africa folks, and the water company can shut off the water whenever it wants to].
3. Health [malaria is a constant threat].
4. Visas! [Angie and her staff are dealing with constant corruption from the government and if they do not acquire their resident visas they will have to go to South Africa or even possibly back to the States]. PLEASE PRAY!
5. Protection [over the property and the ministry].
Please, if you feel led to give to this ministry again visit the website…
