I think its about time I send an update
Since Christmas… wow that was awhile ago. Internet has been scarce. I often wonder how early missionaries did it before email, internet and blogging. I have it so good compared to them!
My last couple weeks in Mozambique were nothing short of eventful. We continued our prayer ministry in the market places and neighborhoods. This ministry was called outreach. Felito, the pastor we were staying with, us racers and about 7 people from his church would hop in the back of a truck bed (this was our main form of transportation ) trailing a trailer with amp theater speakers and a sound system to head off to a near by market to share the Word of God. Once there the men would unload the truck- turn the trailer into a stage and set up the speakers. On came the African worship music! “Oooo our God is goodo” was one of our favorites. This was my favorite part (of course! Dancing!). People who were in the market would come up and dance with us. For those that couldn’t leave their vendor post- we went out to them to shake it. They brought us so much joy!
After about an hour of dance and worship Felito brought the message of the gospel. People would gather around to listen. At the end of the message people who wanted to receive Christ and the Holy Spirit came forward. They were followed by others who needed prayer. We would then venture into the crowd the pray over people of all ages (my favorite were the kids (who have some much life ahead) and elderly (who have such a rich legacy trailing behind them) and then we would go back into the market to pray with those we danced with earlier.
Such a time of rejoicing and sharing love. I have found the best way to communicate through a language barrier is to approach people with a big smile, a loving hug or silly dance moves. The return is always greater than the investment.
