So I have been debating about posting this blog especially after thanksgiving but then it dawned on me that on the night of thanksgiving and the day after we have Black Friday where people spend hundreds, even thousands of dollars in one day. So I am going to talk about Money
I hate talking about money. I hate that we need money and depend on it so much. Without it you can’t do anything, you can hardly survive; with it the possibilities are endless. The world race has skewed my view on money so much.
We eat off of $3 to 5 dollars a day. Sometimes we get the $5 dollars, other times we give it to our ministry contact if they provide meals for us.
To me $5 dollars is a lot now. When we went out for lunch in Nepal we could get a plate of chicken chow mien for .80 cents, or 2 fried eggs and two pieces of toast for .55 cents. At home you can hardly buy a meal, let alone three meals for $5.00 dollars or less.
When we have off days and go out we spend our personal money. We found this amazing coffee place and when scanning the menu to find what to eat I found chocolate chip pancakes for less than $3.00 dollars, but in my head I’m like dang that is expensive. But then I think about it and reason it out by saying you can’t get chocolate chip pancakes for under $3.00 dollars at home so then it makes since to order them.
Yet when I think about support raising I have a slightly different mentality. I think the amount of money we have to raise is ridiculous. It is roughly half a yearly salary for most entry level positions. $15,500 dollars is a crap ton of money. It blows my mind when I think about it.
When applying for the race and seeing how much I had to raise I was shocked but somewhat casual towards it. I knew that I didn’t have the money and I didn’t know where it was going to come from or even if any would come it.
By Gods grace and undeserving favor the money has been coming in. Right now my account is at $13,790 dollars, ONLY $1,710 dollars from being FULLY FUNDED!!!
Now when I think about how much I need I now say well that’s not too bad. But in reality that is a lot. That is more than my spending/fun money for the year while on the race, yet I am sure that I spend more than $1,700 on myself in a year at home.
I am so incredibly blessed to be on the race. To have the opportunity to grow with God, grow as a person with the help of my team and revelation from God, to love all those around the world, to meet some incredible people, to see and experience different cultures, and to serve those who are in need.

Now lets talk about money for a minute…there are 3 WAYS TO GIVE and help me out this holiday season.
I would like to knock out this $1,700 dollars and be fully funded by Christmas!!!!
The fundraiser is called 25 days of Christmas. Essentially I need $68.00 dollars a day for the next 25 days in order to be fully funded. So I made a list entailing 25 different gifts you can get me, but rather than giving me the actual gifts you can give in the form of a donation.

RATHER than getting me all these things, you can give in the form of a donation!!
If I were to receive ALL these items I would be FULLY FUNDED!!! It is crazy when you put money into perspective.

SECOND OPTION for giving and helping me out is with my person spending.
My personal money includes money for buying food for taste and enjoyment rather than rice aka American food on the few occasions that we can. It also includes money for gifts and my two survivors in each country (coffee mug and fabric). It also includes needs such as toiletries and laundry detergent, when we have to pay for internet and random needs that come up.
Personal money also includes our off days which are much needed to refuel and recharge. Off days can look very different. It may mean traveling into town to sit at a coffee shop or it may mean taking a two-day trip to do something fun like ride an elephant, go snorkeling or bungee jumping. Currently my spending money is $75.00 a month but realizing that is cutting it close and doesn’t leave much room for enjoying or partaking in all the activities. I am hoping to increase my spending by $55 a month, which puts me at $130 a month for spending. So in all I need $330 for personal spending for the rest of the race. THIRD and final option for financially helping me out. My parents have an opportunity to join me one the race in the Philippines. What is stopping them is money. Both their daughters are currently out of the country and they would like to visit us both while we are gone. For both of them to come is $620 dollars but it does not include the flight. The $620 they can support raise for, but that isn’t want is stopping them, it is the cost of the flight. If you or anyone you know has a buddy pass let me know, this would help out greatly.
