On May 4th, Team BLING started a journey to Batam, Indonesia. REUNITED!
Here is a list of events:
  1. Scurry through the ENORMOUS Bangkok airport to our gate
  2. Stop for a quick Dairy Queen Blizzard (GLORIOUS)
  3. Notice that we are definitely the only foreigners on the airplane.
  4. Receiving a “SWINE FLU” warning on the plane, and suspecting we might have issues upon arrival in Malaysia.
  5. Suspicions confirmed as the passport control center does not understand “We have not been to the US in four months” in English and thinks we’re infected.
  6. Tiny teacup of a Malaysian woman jacks a thermometer in each BLING members mouth, and then proceeds to tell us that four of us have a fever.
  7. I get frustrated because I don’t have swine flu, I haven’t been in my country in four months, and her thermometer is stupid because I’m not sick. None of these eloquent defenses seem to convince her.
  8. Nurse lets the two BLING members who aren’t sick through customs.
  9. I start praying that I’ll keep my cool and that the Lord will let us into the country of Malaysia.
  10. The tiny teacup nurse lady jacks another thermometer in my mouth and miraculously our temperatures have all dropped 3 degrees. HA! Hallelujah!
So, we sprint through the rest of the Malaysian airport, dodging questions, and praying no one else will stop us between the gate and our contact!! Prayers were answered and we had a marvelous 16 hours in Malaysia.

The next morning our contact took us to a ferry that would cart us over to Batam.

We are now in Batam, Indonesia, teaching English, preschool, bible, and participating in numerous church services and activities.  There are five houses in a row that are filled with various aspects of the ministry where we are serving. There is an orphanage, a House of Refuge for women, a bible college, and a church. It’s a unique demonstration of the church working together.

There are more updates to come on our ministry experiences here in Indonesia.

 Here my plea begins…
BLING NEEDS HELP!

Unfortunately, traveling the world and serving Jesus isn’t cheap. It requires sacrifice and obedience. It also requires financial support. AIM allows World Racers to start this journey without having all of our funding in, trusting that the Lord will provide in time. One of my fellow BLING members (KARA FRATE) has been warned however that if she does not raise another $2,000 within the next two weeks, that she could potentially be sent home.

Kara is my baby sister. She is my Texas girl who keeps me Southern. She is the peacemaker of TEAM BLING, and a constant source of entertainment. When anything gets too serious, Kara is quick to bring a word of optimism and giggle that sends us all over the edge. Kara teaches me about humility and demands that I practice what I preach. She has let the Lord transform her so powerfully in the last 5 months, that I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t recognize the young woman I began this race with. She can’t go home.
Friends, PLEASE consider supporting
Kara?? Any little bit helps. This would help me and my entire team. You
can send checks to the AIM offices (6000 Wellspring Trail, Gainesville,
GA 30506) ,
with Kara Frate’s name and WR Jan 09 in the memo line or support her online @ http://karafrate.theworldrace.org.  Again, PLEASE
consider this…TEAM BLING is not complete without her.

Please be in prayer for continued provision!!! Love you all.
