He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not.
A rose in hand with petals adrift,
Consumed by emotions and a speechless stare.
She’s lost, confused, feeling ever so bare.
One by one you hear her say,
“He loves me, he loves me not”,
As each petal hits the ground.
Hoping the love she craves will soon be found.
“He loves me not” is the final clause,
Her heart is shattered at the fate.
She loved him, but was a second too late.
If only this and if only I could change that,
Lies and guilt consumed her mind.
Where there was once direction,
Now all she could find,
Was a shattered dream and a broken heart.
And a rose on the ground that had been torn apart.
She looks for answers and seeks for truth,
But, only finds a barren road instead.
With a man standing up ahead.
It’s an unfamiliar gaze she’s never seen before,
An overwhelming feeling, she truly longed for.
And all at once her life stood still,
Like a slow motion picture, it didn’t feel real.
“Time heals all wounds” she would hear them say.
But a huge exception was made that day.
This man whispered ever so gentle,
“Would you let me come in?”
I’ve been knocking at your heart for years,
But your vision was clouded with a surplus of fears.
The first commandment you did not keep.
Putting everything worldly before me,
Hoping you could still make the leap.
You tried and failed and now you’re asking why?
But your life was based on false truths and a lie.
You bought into the trap,
As so many often do,
Believing a man will make you happy.
Yet, the hole still remains.
So you walked away with nothing to gain.
The whole world was at your fingertips, or so you thought.
Self-sufficiency and “having it all figured out” was the lie you bought.
“He loves me” was the fate you wanted to hear,
But this man became your God and that is something to fear.
You put him above me, time and time again.
A good thing became a God thing.
So you see, you got it all wrong.
“He loves me not”, will always be the chorus of that song.
So I have come to make your rose anew.
My road is narrow and my companions are few.
To pick up the pieces you once gave away.
“It’s something you can never get back”,
You heard them all say.
But that is a false statement,
I have wiped your slate clean.
On your own understanding,
you shall not lean.
But only on my truths, your life is new,
Another nail for something I did not do.
My blood shed for this very day,
So you could be whole again in every way.
I loved you like no other man could do.
It cost me my life, but I did it for you.
So walk this narrow path with me,
For in my presence you will be free.
From lies and shame, unworthiness and fear,
“He loves me” is the chime now ringing in your ear.
Each nail I took,
Each blow to the side.
So you could live freely,
Where lies no longer abide.
Here, take this rose,
Completely whole and gleaming red.
As we hold it together,
this flower will never become dead.
So with a rose in hand and petals adrift,
“He loves me not” has vanished and gone.
All from one encounter with this man,
Who changed the entire chorus of your song.
For His love is vast and stretches ever so long.
So let this sink in to your very core.
“He loves me” will chime forevermore.
