“You must GO!” I heard Gods voice say to me again.
I remembered the last time He told me these words…I obeyed them and God completely restored me…but unfortunately, this particular morning was just not one of the best. I was missing all my family and friends back home and having a hard time staying present in the moment. I was sore from doing construction the day before, hungry & still tired from the 5 hours of sleep due to a 6am sunrise that peeps over the mountains as I lay in my hammock bed on the front porch night after night.
All I could think about was the life I left behind 2 months ago and I wanted so badly to call it quits…to raise up the white flag, board a plane to America and crawl up into my comfortable bed with clean clothes washed and dried in a washing machine ( and folded thanks to amazing Mom:) ), water from the tap that I can actually brush my teeth with (oh how I miss that), and endless amounts of boiled crawfish (because I know they are in season now & it’s my fav).
BUT when you know that you know that you know that you are in the right place and that God will never forsake you and He is always by your side…you know there is NO going back. There is NO giving up and giving into the temptation that the world as I once knew it was better than the one God has in store for me… if only I remain obedient to what He has called me to do…soooo with that being said I knew that I had to GO….so I did, I boarded the bus to our ministry site 15 minutes away.
It was Thursday and time for our team to go to the Village in Talanga, Honduras. We already had two construction days on Monday and Wednesday building a fence and Tuesday was spent playing with the kids that Gracie and Popie Lee (our missionary hosts) adopted (a blog on that coming soon).
Upon arriving at our ministry …we get the news that Evonya (one of the cerebral palsy girls) had hit her head & was vomiting and pale so Gracie rushed her to the hospital. At this point, I really start feeling uneasy because I was already having a rough morning…now this happens.
But again I hear the Lords voice calling out to me, “You must GO!” so we begin our walks in the village. During this time we are suppose to go door to door asking them a few questions such as, “Are you Pregnant? Do you have any children under the age of 2? Do you have any children with disabilities? “If they answer yes to any of the questions we ask for their ID and write down important information so that Gracie can interview them to figure out if they qualify for meal assistance for their young children. Our final question we ask…is if they would like for us to pray for them?
A few houses and completed information sheets later…we enter a home of a Grandmother, mother, and a son. As we begin praying for the grandmother who lost her Mom a week prior, another lady walks into the house unexpectedly. At this time…I am still a little hesitant from my “rough morning” so I turn to look at the lady who just entered the home and she is in tears….weeping and pointing to her throat. She walks straight up to me, takes me by the hand, and pulls me aside. She continues to weep and pointing at her throat and her heart.
“And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction.” –Matthew 9:35
It was in that exact moment I knew God wanted me there, He wanted me to be in that house at that time, for that lady….so I began to pray for her, “Dear God, I thank you so much for divine appointments. I thank you that you see all things and know all things and I just declare that you send YOUR HEALING HAND down on this woman right now. Please align anything in her throat that may be out of line, please restore her heart and her throat back to its normal place, restore it back to its perfect position the way you created it be.” At this time 2 of my other teammates join me in prayers of healing over this woman. After we pray, she points to her throat and then motions the sign “ No more” then she points to her heart and motions “No More.” we ask, “No more pain?” and she shakes her head and says “No Mas” She then points to her back and her arm and begins to explain she was in a car accident a while back so once again we pray for healing over her back, arm, and her entire body.
She then starts weeping more and more…this time tears of JOY!
~GOD HEALED HER~
“Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes WE ARE HEALED.” –Isaiah 53:4-5
She felt no more pain and began to express with her words how happy and joyful she was. She hugged me for what felt like forever, but little did she know that not only had God used me to heal her, he also used her to heal me…
To heal the doubt and lack of faith I had from that morning. To heal the lack of trust that was forming in my mind, the disbelief that God could really have something better planed for me here…
You see…this is how the enemy works; he knows our weaknesses and tries to distract us from our true purpose, the one God intended for us all along. He leads us to believe that anything and everything that the world views as good must be good, which ultimately leaves us in destruction and total despair.
BUT the good news is…MY GOD IS BIGGER, He leads us down the right path, He speaks to us all day long reminding us of his goodness and helping us to stay focused on HIM. Not only that, but He uses us to bless others and that day I became a true witness to His word. GOD used ME to heal a woman who was desperately in need of His help. Likewise, GOD used that woman to heal me when I was desperately in need of His help as well.
And the beautiful message I want YOU to know is this: GODS HEALING HANDS are always open, HE is our ultimate healer, He took the strips on His back so that we didn’t have to! What a beautiful reminder of His love to both you and I~
