It was over a year ago that I was sitting at Breakaway watching a Tiny Hands International video about girls being trafficked across the border from Nepal to India to be sold in the red light district. With tears streaming down my face I leaned over to my best friend Hannah and said “I’m going to Nepal one day.”
When I began the process of applying for the race, I was lost staring at the multiple routes available. As soon as I saw Nepal on route 3 I clicked apply. I had no idea what God had for me there, I did not even know if I would get to go to Tiny Hands International to serve these abused girls, but I followed the tug on my heart to see this country.
When we arrived to our contact’s house the first night, another World Race team from H-squad was still here for their last night. They had a team member missing and someone announced that he was visiting a friend at Tiny Hands International. I instantly Whooped and got all the information I could about Tiny Hands and how I could get there.
Being perfectly placed in this spot was nothing other than an act of God’s hand and His tender voice reassuring me that I am right where I am supposed to be.
Saturday night my team and I went to meet the lovely Carly Cronin, she is an Alumni Racer that now works for Tiny Hands International. She shared with us her heart and all that Tiny Hands has been doing for the girls in Nepal. They rescue 150-200 girls each month from being taken to India (among MANY other things they do for this impoverished nation). God is moving mightily! It was such a blessing to meet her and be encouraged by her. We may have been strangers before but the blood of Christ is too strong of a bond to deny.
Its very easy on the race to wonder if what you’re doing is worthwhile. But God is faithful, and in those moments He shows up in marvelous ways through beautifully unexpected faces. And in those moments you remember exactly how much you’re loved and find the strength to press on and sing praises to His name….with goosebumps down your spine.
