I went to see “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” with my mom last night. Let me assure you that as soon as we walked in, we were the youngest people in the theater (yes, even my mom).
It is a movie about a group of retired folk from England that for various reasons(hip surgery, cheap retirement, finding an old love, to find a new love etc etc) end up living in a shabby hotel together. I wanted to see it because I will be going to  India on the World Race and love the culture….and becuase I may or may not have a crush on the Actor Dev Patel. It was a great movie, I suggest that you go see it.

Hollywood really knows how to pull on people’s heart strings, thats why they make the big bucks. Often times I find that the emotions they provoke in people are ones that God created within us. A common theme through out the movie was a desire to be desired. A husband that wants to romance his unhappy wife, a widow that has lost her way after her husband of 40 yrs passes away, a single old man thats lonely, a young girl that wants so badly to please the man she loves that she is willing to sacrifice her body….you get the point. All of these people’s lives spoke to my heart.

It doesn’t matter if you are 17 or 70, we all want to be wanted.

These people traveled around the world seeking some sort of fulfillment in their life, trying to find something or someone to live for. There was the appeal of India because it was new and exotic, they were bound and determined to seek happiness.

This movie got me thinking about my own life and the desires of my heart. Of couse I want to be wanted. I have a desire to be pursued by someone in such an exotic way that it takes my breath away. Then I realized, I AM DESIRED THAT WAY. The creator of the universe loves me in such a way that I cannot even comprehend it. This man loves me so much, that he died for me. That is the kind of love each and everyone of us desires. I have the most romantic form of love living inside of me, if that does not take my breath away I don’t know what will.

I know it was just a movie, but I wanted to reach out to each of these people and tell them

You are loved.
You are worth dying for.
There is a purpose for your life that only you can live out.

My hope and prayer is that the love of Jesus Christ within me will shout these things to the people I am around. You are desired in an exotic way. Nothing will fulfill your heart like the love of Jesus, He died just so you would know how very precious you are to him. Let the God of heaven and earth pursue you in an exotic way that sweeps you off of your feet.Â
