Greetings!! Here’s a short blurb to help y’all get to know me a wee bit more!

My name is Krista Baer, I am a 23-yr-old CO native, born and raised in the Denver suburbs. My family, whom are so important to me, consists of myself, my parents and my two younger (yet college-age) siblings. We’re a rather odd bunch of people, but if you know me, that makes more sense. I graduated high school in 2011 from Arvada West (some call it AWaste but I never saw where the “waste” part came from) where cross country running, tennis, student gov’t, choir, theater and honors class peeps were my main homies. I bounced between a lot of friend groups.

2 majors and 4 years later, I’m a college grad from the U of M in Missoula, Montana. The first time my mom and I visited Missoula, our dorm tour guide told us “Missoula is like the Boulder of Montana”. To that I say… so true, sir, so true. If you know anything about my political angle (most people don’t unless they ask me), you know that I didn’t come to Missoula to have the underlying culture validate my beliefs. I really just loved the town and the people, and that seemed like a darn good reason for me to be there. I was in a sorority (KKG!) and campus ministry (Chi Alpha!) throughout college and both made college a whirlwind of an adventure and an era of growth.

Prior to moving back to Colorado and before graduating college in July 2015, I had been in no-man’s-land. The pressure was on to determine what career I’d be in for the rest of my life, and I felt out of the loop. Clueless. Business school classmates were grabbing onto prestigious internships right and left, resume workshops were filling up and KKG’s senior programming included a visit to Career Services. But I had nothing. No pull, no direction. I have many passions and likes and dislikes, sure! but could I really make one of them the centerpiece, so to speak, of my life? I wasn’t sure, and I began to doubt that waiting was the best course for me. YET God silently prompted me to wait. And over the summer, a possible first step was revealed that peeked my curiosity.

Enter: World Race.

On July 4, 2015 a friend of mine casually told me about the idea behind World Race while watching fireworks from a soccer field. It was intriguing to me, but nothing more. I told her I’d look into it maybe. Well, 1 week before I officially graduated college and surprised by my own sudden interest, I put pen to paper and finally did the research myself. I acquainted myself with the World Race website, and the Expedition route especially. It was like a light bulb inside my head that wouldn’t turn off. I applied a day later and was sent an email about further steps in the process.

4 months later, after a 10-day training camp, risk management course, fundraising, goodbyes, tears, gear-collecting, celebrating the holidays, quitting my job and more training at AIM headquarters, we are in the field and I am so happy to be here, walking in what I trust to be God’s will for me right now.

With that, just want to say welcome and thanks for checking out my blog!
