Let’s talk about what happened in Costa Rica. Ya I posted a blog about the works we did and what every day life looked like, but I didn’t talk about the people, the crazy God moments and what journey He had me on.

This was in partly due to the fact that I chose not to open my eyes to what great things God was doing around me. As you know in my last blog I talked about us building a sanctuary in the middle of the jungle and all the manual labor that we did. And I chose to see it as just that, manual labor. I didn’t choose to see what journey God had me on, or the relationships I was building with my fellow racers, the ministry host or with the locals who helped us build the church (even though our only communication were the words palma, clavo and couple Spanish phrases). Now don’t get me wrong, building a sanctuary in the middle of a Costa Rican Rain Forest was an amazing experience (and pretty freakin cool) but I knew something was missing. That whole month I was constantly asking God what my purpose was here and WHERE HE WAS in all of it.

So when did He reveal all of this to me? It all started with a 6 hour one-on-one I had with my friend Tiffany who has been given the gift of speaking Spanish (yup you ask and you shall receive) you should really go read her blog about it! I’ll put the link in the bottom. Ok so we had a 6 hour one-on-one that was great! We talked about life and shared some personal stories until one of our Costa Rican friends named Omar (who is basically in charge of anything that happens above 10 feet at the sanctuary) came up to talk to us. He sat down in Tiffany’s eno and told us that he felt led by God to share his testimony with me. And since Tiffany is now basically fluent in Spanish, she translated. Omar started to tell me his life story and all the things God has taught him the hard way on the journey that He has guided him through. Afterwards I asked him why he chose to tell me this (through Tiffany) and he said that in this short month that we have worked together he has seen many qualities of Christ in me and that I am FUERTE (strong) in Christ as well as a good leader and that he doesn’t want to see that be taken from me. This meant a lot to me at this time because I was doubting if I was a good leader and questioning why I wasn’t hearing anything from God. After Omar had left to go to bed Tiffany and I started to talk about what just happened and she shared what God put on her heart to tell me and it answered so many more questions that I was asking God. After this experience I started to appreciate all the things like great, in depth talks I had with friends over a coconut or a workout session in a sketchy barn with the guys.

I used to look back on Costa Rica as just a bunch of people working on a sanctuary in the jungle for a month. But now I look back on it and see it as a great month of building friendships, learning lessons from God and Building His Kingdom!

Thank you Costa for an amazing month.

I am very grateful for all of your support, and appreciate your generosity. Although I am still in need $3,756 by December to be fully funded. Please donate if you feel called!
