Some of the stories that are coming out of this month are crazy! We have experienced everything from a witch doctors daughter possessed by demons to a man who had a sudden illness which has had him bound to a wheel chair for the past 4 years and unable to use his right arm begin to walk with bent knees and the ability to straighten out his right arm while raising it.
On our first Sunday in Mozambique, Pastor Eduardo told us that a woman had requested prayer for spiritual issues. A few of us decided to go pray for her and Pastor Eduardo informed us that there might be a manifestation. We get to her house with pastor’s wife and begin praying. Almost instantly this woman manifests. She manifested for nearly two hours before the demons calmed down. Pastor Eduardo explained to us that this woman’s mother was a witch doctor. Her mother had died and this woman decided to burn down her mother’s home due to the demonic issues involved with her being a witch doctor. The daughter has been going to the church but didn’t start going til her mother got sick and witchcraft couldn’t heal her. After her mother died, she continued to go to the church but began to have demonic issues herself. Pastor Eduardo says that she is normally fine for a few weeks and then the demons begin to show themselves again and she manifests. Every time we’ve prayed with her, she has manifested. The spiritual warfare that is not only happening in her soul but in the area is so real. We even had a girl giving a sermon on spiritual warfare and as soon as she said, “Mozambique has taught me that spiritual warfare is real,” all the power in the church went out and it was pitch black. The whole congregation started worshipping and pulled out their flashlights.
Even though Satan’s work is very real here, God’s work is much bigger and much stronger to those whom He calls child. While doing home visits one day our team came across a man named George. George was a part of the local church and was at every service. He was bound to a wheel chair and had issues with his right arm. When we asked him what happened he said that he woke up one day four years ago unable to speak or walk and they still don’t know what happened. We prayed for him and his marriage and then he told us he would see us at church that evening. An hour before service is supposed to start, George shows up in his wheel chair. We have the service and at the end we went to pray for each person in the congregation. George was the first person I went to pray for. Instantly I heard God say that He was going to begin healing in George’s body. I had Johnny come over and start translating for me and the three of us began to pray for healing. After a while, we stopped and George began to lift up his right arm and stretch it out. He told Johnny that he wasn’t able to do that before. He also stood up and took a few steps without assistance. I had seen him walk very stiff-legged with heavy assistance to his seat in the front but this time when he walked, he was bending his knees and had no assistance. He said he wanted to keep praying. So we kept praying and I watch as God began to answer our prayers through giving him the ability to use his legs and right arm. George walked out of the room that night with assistance and ending up leaving in his wheelchair because his body just wasn’t strong enough to support him for a long period of time yet but he had use of body again. That is the power of Christ when our will aligns with His will.
