We are in Trujillo, Peru! We have been here for a little over a week, but I have not had internet access until today. Our squad is all together this month and we are staying at a compound owned by IncaLink Peru. The compound is under construction and once complete will be a children’s home and a retreat center. The plans for the facility are amazing!
Trujillo is in the dessert in Peru so we have had some hot days. Everything I brought has sand somewhere on it or in it. It is really nice to be only an hour away from the beach though!
The area in which this compound is located is run by gangs and there is not much hope for the
children in the community unless someone reaches them. It is a perfect location for this ministry!
Our team worked with a sand boarding ministry through IncaLink this past week. The goal of the sandboarding ministry to reach the young teens before they get pulled into a gang. The kids were amazing and it was a lot of fun to see them smiling while sandboarding! We also dug out a skimboarding area and the kids got to skimboardat the end of the week. The ministry is doing amazing things with those kids!
Other ministries that we will be doing this month include construction on the children’s home, working at a daycare, and spending time with the people in the city dump!
We will leave Trujillo on February 26th and head to Lima for our first squad debrief.
