Greetings Reader,

So this blog is going to be a little different than most. I wanna share with all of you what I’ve learned so far on the race. It has truly been a life changing experience that I hope will continue to its fruition.

  1. Indian spice is not like Mexican spice. You think you can handle the heat… but you really can’t. I found that out the hard way… mostly I just ate rice… then I got a yeast rash on my foot from eating too much rice.
  2. Another heat we can’t handle… India is 1,000 degrees allllllllll the time! The only break we had from it was the rain. Thankfully it was monsoon season or who know what might have happened.
  3. The best part to leaving the country is opening more letters from home. They are life giving.
  4. Living in community is challenging, but so worth it. Whilst in community you might wake up to no power, no water, and must wait 20 minutes to use the restroom; however it’s so worth it. The time spent with so many wonderful people made ever struggle not too hard.
  5. When teaching elementary English, you suddenly remember things that you thought you’d never use.
  6. Building a church with bamboo in leech infested waters isn’t as scary as it seems.
  7. God always provides…. Let me say that again… GOD ALWAYS PROVIDES!!!! As a team we were sent out with no money, no food and no water. We had to get free everything and God showed up in a mighty way. We were given over $120 and were able to have our needs provided, provide for others, and give to our bamboo church.
  8. If you ever visit Asia, wear slip on shoes. It’s considered rude to enter someone’s home with your shoes on. Wear shoes that’s easy to get on and off. That’s a struggle that you don’t want to endure.
  9.  Worship looks different everywhere, but the outcome is the same. We are calling out to our creator and there is nothing more pure than that.
  10. When watching Asian television, it’s always better to add your own commentary or you’ll never get through it.
  11. Disciple is a good thing. We spend our lives trying to gain control because we feel like God is holding something back from us. Not true. God gives his best to us. Believe it and take advantage of his many blessings.
  12. Journaling isn’t appealing, but necessary. Ugh… I have to journal more.
  13. You miss people in the moment. Moments make up lives and spending it apart from my favorite people can be hard.
  14. Music and books are a must for me. I’m not living a different life just because I’m in a different country. I’m still the same book hoarder that I was in the states, I just have to carry them now. Gotta be careful of which ones I purchase.
  15. God’s love is constant and never-ending. I know that, but sometime we a need a little reminder. God sees us all worth his sacrifice so don’t be fooled by the lie that you are less than.

My journey here is just begging and I can’t wait to see what I’ll learn tomorrow, next week or next month.

I’m currently $1,955 away from my $11,000 deadline due on October 1st. If you’d like to help me reach my goal please click the “Support Me” button on the top of the screen.

Thank you all that has helped me to be here. Your sacrifice will never go unnoticed.

With Gratitude,

Kirbie Head, World Racer
