Greetings Reader,

So here it is, as I promised… a look back of all the fun and funny things that have happen to me and my team whilst in the mystical land of India.

After being here for 4 weeks and even though everyday isn’t as eventful as most of us would like, we still find ways to pass the time. The lovely people at Adventures In Missions tells all of us Racers that a big part of the race is to “Hurry up and wait.” No truer words have been spoken.

Once my team arrived at our host home we didn’t have ministry right away. In fact we had to wait 3 whole days until we were able to do much of anything. That first day when we arrived we found out that we were staying in a small (and I mean small) church building that was attached to the pastor’s home. So here we are. Sleeping in tents, in a church and being grateful for every opportunity.

Let me just say that our host family is fantastic! The mom has truly taken on a motherly role and every time she opens her mouth I laugh whole heartedly. Even though we have only been here an extremely short time, I will miss her. My Indian mama.

So rounding out our last week of ministry I thought that I would share some things that have happened. As a team we have witnessed miraculous healings, souls saved, and the love of the father from his people in India. Living here has been an experience that I wouldn’t change.

For me personally, I have witnessed some other less spiritual things that have made me smile. For example:

  1. After sweating all day and realized that your body has changed into the same color of your clothes.
  2. Playing “Headbands” with your team. The answers and reactions are always worth it.
  3. Dancing on the rooftops in the rain while listening to Mercy Me’s “Greater.”
  4. Speaking the word of God to a group of believers. Side note: When we speak we are automatically given spiritual authority. The audience believes that we are so close to God when in reality we are just being obedient.
  5. Did you know that you can fit 9 people in a tuck-tuck??? Whelp, you can.
  6. Learning the ukulele… I can only play a couple of notes… but I’m getting better.
  7. Feeding people cake on their birthday. (Which just happens to be an Indian tradition.)
  8. Grabbing ice cream with your team after church and watching Bridesmaids!
  9. Teaching your host family the “American smile.” Always show your teeth
  10. Playing cards just to pass the time.
  11. And seeing a random monkey just out and about.

These few things made me smile and made India worthwhile. Even though my journey had just begun I’m so excited to see what the Lord deems me worthy to see next. The possibilities for Nepal is endless and I serve a never-ending God.

Thank you all who have sacrificed for me to be here. It will never go unnoticed.

With Gratitude,

Kirbie Head, World Racer
