My week at training camp was filled with lots of fun and learning. I would like to share with you some of the things that God taught me in one short but amazing week at my World Race training camp.
Enjoy!

I was made to be me! No one else, just me! He doesn’t want me to try to be someone or something I’m not. He made me to a one-of-a-kind gal and He has a special and unique plan for my life. God made me special and He loves me very much!

It’s ok to open up and step outside of my comfort zone. I’m not too comfortable being the person who initiates a conversation. I prefer someone else to start the conversation, than I will gladly chat away. God showed me, however, how rewarding it can be to step out of my cozy comfort zone and strike up a conversation. I had some great conversations that started with a simple “Hi, I’m Kira!”

I can live with less…and enjoy it! I “lost” my luggage for an entire day and it was one of the best parts of my training camp experience. I didn’t mind only having my Bible, and notebook and pen, my water bottle and the clothes on my back. It was actually nice to have little, less things to worry about. The experience also taught me to open my mouth and ask for help when I need it, that it is ok to reach out to others for help. I was blown away by how supportive, loving, and generous my B Squad family was to lend a hand, or toothpaste, when I needed them the most! B SQUAD BEST SQUAD!

Trying something new can be challenging, but it can also be a lot of fun! Training camp week was full of firsts for me. New foods, group dance offs, speaking up, team building experiments, new people, learning cultural customs and norms, an African market, opening my heart to those around me, new songs, and living out of a tent and backpack. New things can be great things! I wouldn’t trade any bit of my training camp experience for something else, each part of it played an important role in making it the awesome experience it was.

No matter what, keep my eyes on Jesus! There were things going on at training camp during many of the teaching sessions that were quite forgien to me. Different ways of worshipping, people praying in tongues, laying hands on those who were being prayed for, asking the Holy Spirit to work in them…things like that. With all the stuff that was going on around me at the sessions, I would find myself getting frustrated at times for just not understanding how people could feel how they were feeling or why I wasn’t thinking or feeling what others were. I would pray and ask Jesus to help me understand, to help me feel what the people around me were so I could fit in with those around me but I always heard Jesus reply this to me. “Kira, don’t worry about what is going on around you, what other are doing. This is about YOUR journey with ME! Don’t look around at the others keep your eyes fixed on ME, I’m all you need and if you keep your eyes fixed on me, you will always have all you need when you need it. Keep your eyes on Me Kira!” And so I will keep my eyes fixed on Jesus, my Lord, my Shepherd, my Saviour.
I hope you enjoyed a peak into what God showed me at training camp!
