I have so many things to be thankful for in my life. God has blessed me beyond what I could have ever dreamed or asked for and He continues to do so. He has given me grace-undeserved but richly poured out upon me. He has given me great friends who I can talk to, share the good times and the not so good times with, and just have fun with. He has given me a roof over my head, food always in abundance, and clothes that fit well and look nice. He has given me talents and abilities that I can use to bring Him glory and praise. He has given me health and strength. He has given me freedom and love. He has given me crazy, wild, and awesome brothers and sisters that give me anything but a boring life. And He has given me two amazing, godly parents that have raised me well and given me so many opportunities in life. One of those opportunities was homeschooling.

I feel so blessed to have been home-schooled. I do not know if I always felt that way about my schooling, but looking back on it now, I cannot think of another way to look at it other than a complete and total blessing form the Lord. I can think of 11 of reasons why I feel this way.

  1. My parents were able to give me a strong, Biblical foundation during my early years. I was blessed to be able to grow in my faith without too much worldly influence at a young age.

  2. I was able to learn at whatever pace worked for me.

  3. I struggled with certain subjects at times. I was able to spend more time where I needed more improvement. Example: Reading was one of those subjects, so I was able to read books that interested me for my schooling more than just what the curriculum suggested.

  4. I have a close bond with my family; we were with each other a lot!

  5. I gained confidence in who I was in Jesus which has helped me through many things in life.

  6. I was able to do Bible studies as a part of my daily school day!

  7. I learned about creation and how it ties into so much in life.

  8. I was able to put extra time and work into my soccer training.

  9. I learned to work on my own and also with those of younger ages.

  10. Being able to meet and spend time with other home-schooled families was always neat.

  11. It played a major part in shaping me into who I am today!

I can honestly look back on my life and be thankful for the schooling I had. I may not have always worked as hard as I could have and I know I would battle with my mom about my school work enough of the time (just ask her, she will tell you!), but I know being home-schooled was perfect for me and I would not have changed that part of my life at all. I thank the Lord for giving me the opportunity to have been taught at home by my parents and to grow in my faith with a great support system of family and Christian friends around me. My foundation was built on Jesus Christ starting at a young age and I know it has helped me through so much in life and it continues to do so.

Thank you Jesus for giving me a wonderful Mom and Dad who gave me a great foundation for life!”
