Welcome to Month 10, Tegucigalpa Honduras!

The entire squad was together this month partnering with a boys home called Zion's Gate. There are currently 9 street kids staying with our American contact, Tony and his Honduran wife Nidia.

Not only were the 39 World Racers here but 8 Passport team members joined us too! So it was a packed house and Tony & Nidia had their work cut out for them but they had organized so many awesome ministry opportunities for us and rented a school bus for transport!

on the bus to ministry

I'd like to introduce you to our tent city. The facility used to be the most notorious night club in Honduras and now it houses missionaries, how awesome is our God?!

Halfway through the month Dusty named our 'streets'. I was living on 'Estrogen Lane' and the last weeked joined the 'Outsiders' it was a much more pleasent experience living outside with 8 ppl versus inside with 30.

Now on with the fun stuff! What did we do for the 30 days we were here??

The first week we did everything as a squad.
First we went to the dump where people work to collect plastic bottles and prayed for and fed the workers.

We went to INHFA, which is a juvenile home for girls. A few of the girls were pregnant, some got displaced from their homes, some were in for violence, we never really asked. The first day we were here we were all seperated into our stations, I was the gaming station, these group of about 7 girls march in with vengeance and head over to a girl sitting on the bench and start beating the crap out of her. It was awful.

On Friday's the gringo's took over a street corner and caused some chaos for Christ, it was fun. We all wore bright colors and held signs, danced in the turn lanes, played guitar, threw candy in car windows with scripture attached to it. It was a grand ole time.

On Saturday's we went into a surrounding colony (town) where our Pastor organizes a sports ministry. Soccer is food, air, and water in Central America so what better tool to use to minister to young boys? We brought face paint and candy and did some worship and a short testimony.

After the first week our teams were split up and paired with another team, 220 was with Beauty for Ashes.
We worked with a Pastor friend of some of the street boys living at Zion's Gate.
We went to their school and taught english, planted a flower bed, painted the Pastors church, attended many church services and did what all good missionaries do, sing.

It was an action packed month and living with 40 other people is extremely challenging at times. I have fully embraced the 'family' dynamic and just like any normal family your siblings can drive you crazy at times, but we got to celebrate 7 June birthday's, mine included! So there was a lot of laughs and dance parties happening.

one more little fun tidbit, the first week we had some downtime so Jess & Dusty directed our World Race 'Honduran' Games trailer (based of the Hunger Games)
